This one is a little different from my usual post. I recently created a vector illustration of a Volkswagen Beetle convertible for a personal project, and I thought I would share the file here. I’ve provided 3 color variations below. The colors are easy to change with just a few clicks. Go ahead and leave the top down on these autos, and let your hair blow. Enjoy!

12 Illustrator Charcoal Brushes

Last time I was in the art section of Hobby Lobby I found these great charcoal pencils that sort of had a rectangle shaped head… I had to grab them just to make this set of vector brushes. I drew these lines on water color paper to give them the heavy texture in the stroke. I’ve already made some great looking pieces with these brushes…hope you’re able to do the same. Enjoy!

Grunge Stars: A Free Vector Pack

I love to take a nice clean vector, with it’s smooth perfect lines, and destroy it with a vector grunge pattern. I can’t help it… it’s an addiction. Have a look around the site and you’ll see what I mean. I’ve created a set of 12 star patterns and applied a vector grunge pattern that I used a while back in my Grunge Radials Pack. Free Vector Pack : Water Color Splatters

Yesterday I was using my Water Color Splatters Photoshop brush set for a business card project where I needed to create a vector graphic from one of the splatters. I was very happy with how the splatter looked as a solid black vector, and it looked great as part of the artwork for the business card. So much so that I had to vectorize the rest… and therefore a free vector pack was born. I’m calling this one as I see it… Vector Water Color Splatters. Enjoy!

Free Vector Pack : Scribble Skulls

Good morning all… I have a new vector pack consisting of 8 scribbled skulls. The idea for this set hit me while doodling yesterday. I have been studying skulls as part of a character design course that I took at the end of last year. As an exercise, I have scribbled as many as I could as quickly as possible. These skulls are rough and scratchy… and a little bit creepy.

I know… I know… There are a million free vector wings out there. And every aspiring t-shirt designer and his grandma uses them in all of their design work… Yeah yeah. So perhaps wings have been a little over used lately as a design element. But never-the-less I get a lot of requests for vector wings, they are fun to design, and over used or not… they still look cool. And nothing says “Rock and Roll” like a giant pair of wings on your band’s new t-shirt, right?

Free Vector Art : High Speed Splatters

This vector graphic was one of those that was sort of created by accident. I was working on a new Photoshop brush set using drips of India Ink. I was experimenting with letting the drips fall naturally versus flinging the dropper with my arm. The latter resulted in this graphic that was a bit too messy and drippy to easily pull separate PS brushes from. But I love this graphic, and I couldn’t discard it without posting it for everyone to see. I love the randomness and the overlapping spray from the drops.

Hand Drawn Vector Floral Patterns

It’s about time for another round of vector freebies. Up to the plate this time is a set of 3 hand drawn floral patterns. I created this set with a quill pen and india ink on bristol board. The resulting lines are very scratchy and uneven. (which I really like). Download this set and add a little hand drawn vector goodness to your next design.

I’ve been developing this set on and off for the past several weeks, and I believe this may be my favorite vector art collection on the site so far. As I was developing this set of radial vector patterns I wanted to make sure that what I was assembling was not only eye-catching, but also useful in day-to-day design projects. I found myself going back to the set fairly often and finding something that worked in several pieces. I tried to include a variety of styles in the 30 selections that are available. I think this set is really cool and useful, and hopefully well worth the addition to your design toolbox.

Free Vector Pack :: Ornate Swirls

I’ve been off of my regular blogging schedule for the past few weeks. I’ve been working to update the site a bit (as you can see), and it’s taken most of my attention. Stay tuned for more site updates to come. For this post I’ve created 6 Free Ornate Vector Swirls. These swirls were created using custom art brushes in Adobe Illustrator. Swirly graphics like these are very trendy right now, and you can find them all over the web. What I wanted to do here, to set these apart from the rest, was to make these very detailed, very free, and hopefully very usable in your design work.
