I sat down a few nights ago to create some watercolor textures. I’ve wanted to have some in my bag of design tricks for a while, and wasn’t happy with what I was finding on the web. Plus, I like to create my own textures whenever possible. It just feels good. I’m by no means a watercolor artist, so it took me a bit to get into a groove and actually create something useful. Along the way I discovered if I puddled a few colors together and blew on the puddles while turning the paper I got some pretty interesting results.

I thought these splatters would make a great set of Photoshop brushes. I know there are plenty of splatter paint style PS brushes out there. But, every splatter is unique and these happen to be pretty interesting and even sparked a bit of creative juice. Below is some artwork that I created using these brushes to illustrate the style and usefulness of this set.
