Well, for my last post of 2008 I thought it might be nice to round up all of my Photoshop Brushes released this year. I’ve had a tremendous amount of fun creating and posting these brushes. Building these sets has given me a new outlook on inspiration and design resources. I don’t think I would have begun to think in those terms had it not been for this site.
Well, it’s the last weekend before Christmas. All the Xmas shopping is done, work is slowing down, and there’s a cold front coming tomorrow night to cool Austin down from 76 to 29 degrees, and what better way to celebrate than a free pack of vector snowflakes! This pack was created from various hand drawn elements that were scanned and vectorized using Adobe Illustrator. These are great for adding a touch of winter wonder land, holiday cheer, and Bing Crosby to your design work! Enjoy!
I have a brand new high resolution Photoshop brush set released exclusively through PSDTUTS. This set includes 15 weathered wood brushes, featuring knot holes, nail holes, and lots of rough wood grain. Each brush is a huge 2500×2500 pixels. This set is great for adding a naturally worn look to your design work.
I have to admit that I spend a lot of time thinking about Photoshop brushes, textures, and patterns. So much so that it can’t be healthy. I’ve started a running list of ideas, just so I can keep up with them all. I carry my camera almost everywhere, because nothing is worse to me than spotting a great design resource and not be able to capture it. That being said… below is the latest creation in the Wood Series of Photoshop brushes.
Last week I stumbled upon the design work of Douglas Vitkauskas. His portfolio site includes some great designs including print, logo and web work. I was also extremely impressed with the collection of free fonts that Douglas offers. There are some really usable type faces in his collection, so I grabbed a few of my favorites and filed them away for future use. Douglas also offers some great fonts for sale as well.
It’s been a while since I posted a free texture pack, and I couldn’t pass this one up. While visiting family over the holiday weekend, I spotted this great crooked brick driveway. There’s old bricks, leaves, and to top it all off it had just rained, so the colors pop very nicely. Without hesitation I grabbed the camera and snapped a couple of shots to share with everyone here.
